The development of an urticaria app should provide the best possible support for patients in the future

With the help of the CRUSE Control Urticaria® app, urticaria patients will be able to gain better control over their condition and be optimally prepared for their next doctor's appointment.
Around 80 million people worldwide are affected by chronic spontaneous urticaria - and the trend is rising! Some of those affected are severely restricted in their quality of life. Urticaria causes itchy wheals on the skin, angioedema (swelling), or even both, and only about one in ten people have their disease sufficiently under control. One of the reasons for this is that the response to treatment is often inadequately recorded. To change this, renowned dermatologists and allergists have developed the CRUSE Control Urticaria® App. CRUSE stands for Chronic Urticaria Self Evaluation, and the app can help patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria to subsequently control the disease and, as a result, significantly reduce the level of suffering. In the best case, the disease disappears again and to increase the probability of this so-called spontaneous remission, continuous monitoring and documentation of the disease activity is important.
With the app, patients now have a tool at their side that is uncomplicated to use, with which the disease activity and control can be optimally recorded and thus the next doctor's appointment can be optimally prepared, because they can upload photos of their skin changes, among other things. The attending physician can then have the app report sent to him or her by e-mail and thus see at a glance how well the urticaria is under control.
CRUSE Control Urticaria® was developed by the UCARE Network in cooperation with the team of the Institute for Allergology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, led by Prof. Marcus Maurer, MD, Sophia Neisinger (assistant physician for Dermatology and Allergology), Anja Lingnau (PROM Coordinator Charité) and Reinhardt Britz (GA²LEN UCARE and ACARE Program Manager).
